Het nummer Sexy Lady van Ben Moore in een bewerking voor (mezzo) sopraan en harmonieorkest

This comedy song was written for mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and she has performed
it many times in concerts across the US and Europe. It is featured on the CD “Susan Graham
at Carnegie Hall” (Warner Classics). Every operatic mezzo has to face the fact that most of
the glamour roles go to the sopranos while the best roles for mezzos are often pants roles. In
this parody, the mezzo demands her due, even though by the end of the song she can’t resist
the great music ofMozart and Straus and is willing to make a few compromises. This version
has been slightly revised from the one for Ms. Graham, making it applicable to nearly every mezzo.
The main tune in the piece should be as bluesy and seductive as possible, in contrast to the operatic
excerpts which appear throughout the song.
